Ondo State Elected First Female House Speaker

The Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly this morning May 27th elected Ms Jumoke Akindele representing Okitikpukpa constituency II as the new speaker of the State Assembly. Who emerge with 13 votes against her contender, Ms Akindele a trained lawyer emerged speaker after the election. Also, Chairman House Committee on Education in the house before her recent election. The new speaker has to be elected due to the death of the former speaker, Mr Samuel Adeshina Ajayi  who lost his battle to cancer in Feb 25th 2014 making the seat vacant for new leadership. more

Jonathan urges tertiary institutions to access intervention fund

Abuja -  President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday advised tertiary institutions in the country to access the intervention fund provided by the Federal Government through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND). The president in a national conference gave the advice in Abuja on Transparency, Accountability and Ethical Values in tertiary institutions for sustainable development. The conference was jointly organised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), TETFUND and the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values. Jonathan, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen.
